Job Summary
This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering exceptional care to patients with mental health conditions. As a Nurse Specialist, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to provide holistic care that addresses the physical, emotional, and social needs of our patients.
About the Role
- You will work in a fast-paced environment, managing a workload effectively and addressing issues in a productive and respectful manner.
- You will exercise sound professional judgment and use best practice guidelines to ensure safe and quality care.
- You will contribute to a safe and inclusive environment for all through compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
- At least 1 year recent experience working as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting, preferably in a psychiatric unit.
- Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Proven clinical experience with patient-focused care, including strong patient assessment, care planning, patient education, and documentation skills.
Bonus Requirements
- A degree in Nursing from an approved nursing program.
- Certification in CPMHN (c) is an asset.
- Knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnoses and their associated symptoms and presentation, as well as knowledge of Psychiatric Medications.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and experience working with them.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent completion of a physical assessment course.
- Membership in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO)/Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).
- Ability to speak a second language.
