About Our Client:

We are an ambulatory centre dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care in Richmond Hill.

Position Scope:

The Director will oversee interprofessional staff, including operating room registered nurses, anesthesia assistants, and other healthcare professionals. As a key member of the leadership and patient care team, the primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing exemplary leadership and operational management for clinical areas and teams;
  • Ensuring excellence in patient care, corporate objectives, and creating a healthy work environment;
  • Performing planning and operations, quality management, and participating in special projects and initiatives that support organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Operational Management

The Director is responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating nursing professional care delivery models within the context of interprofessional teams;
  • Developing and evaluating standards for effective optimization of Health Human Resources (HHR) to manage patient surge and health system pressures;
  • Being the content matter expert for nursing practice, including legal and regulatory requirements, interpreting and developing standards of care aligned with best practices and evidence.

Additionally, the Director assesses nursing practice, reviews critical incidents, identifies risks, develops, and implements quality initiatives for continuous quality improvement.

Nursing Practice Expertise

The Director provides consultative services to operational leadership on identifying, managing, and resolving competency, conduct, and capacity practice issues for nurses across the organization.

Technology and Education

The Director promotes, implements, and assesses new technology to optimize patient care delivery, leads clinical product reviews, develops education, implements, evaluates, and plans for replacement cycles.

Staff Management and Development

The Director oversees new nursing documentation requirements, leveraging evidence, best practice, and technological advances to support clinical decision-making.

The Director maintains a shared responsibility for managing staff, including Managers, Nurses, Resource Nurses, Educators, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and Administrative Assistants.

Performance Measures and Evaluation

The Director develops, implements, and communicates performance measures; maintains knowledge of different disciplines to facilitate conducting regular performance appraisals in a fair and consistent manner.

The Director ensures staff meet professional practice standards, determines and implements standards for staff skill levels, productivity, and education levels, ensuring appropriate certification/licensure.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Theoretical and practical experience in adult education;
  • Educational program planning, development, and evaluation skills;
  • Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification;
  • Specialty certification as per area of responsibility;
  • Strong teaching and adult learning skills;
  • Current membership in a related professional interest group or association.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

  • An Undergraduate or Master's Degree in Nursing or recognized equivalent;
  • Regulated Health Professional (CNO/or MRTO) registration;
  • Minimum 5 years of recent, relevant experience in a nursing leadership, advanced practice, or similar position.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
