Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Underwriting, you'll be accountable for high quality underwriting of mid-market property & casualty accounts in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and your level of underwriting authority as assigned.

What can you expect in this role?Assessing, accepting, and declining moderate to complex new business submissions, within assigned underwriting authorityRe-underwriting and negotiating renewals and policy endorsementsOrdering of inspections, financial reports, or other underwriting information for use in your analysis of critical risk hazards and decision makingNegotiating the terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers in writing, by telephone, electronic mail or in personDeveloping and maintaining positive broker relationsParticipating in production calls on brokerage offices, as requiredProviding technical support to brokersActively participating in weekly internal production meetingsMentoring and providing technical support to less experience team membersWhat do you bring to the role?University degree or a college diploma or the CIP designation is required3-5 years Commercial Insurance underwriting experienceProficient in Microsoft Word and ExcelProfessional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, with both customers and co-workersPerforms well in a busy environment and remains calm under pressureTeam player, adaptable to a changing environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong problem solving abilitiesStrong sales orientation
