Senior Underwriter for Commercial Insurance

Role OverviewThe Senior Underwriter plays a pivotal role in assessing and accepting individual risks to optimize the financial performance of a designated portfolio. This position is essential for risk placement and retention at Chubb, serving as a knowledgeable resource for policy pricing, coverage, and administration.
Key Responsibilities- Achieve Gross Written Premium (GWP) and New Business objectives by underwriting and renewing profitable target market accounts.
- Prepare new and renewal proposals that aid producers in account retention and expansion.
- Implement account rounding and cross-selling strategies.
- Evaluate customer data and account specifics during the underwriting, pricing, proposal, and placement processes for new and renewal business, ensuring alignment with the PRS strategy and underwriting standards.
- Review and respond appropriately to findings from risk assessment reports.
- Provide recommendations for additional coverage and services during the initiation, endorsement, and renewal phases.
- Exhibit strong technical underwriting expertise and confidently communicate Chubb's strategies regarding account-specific decisions to internal teams and brokers.
- Actively promote the value proposition of Chubb Personal Risk Services.
- Foster positive relationships with the Personal Risk Service Centre, Regional Underwriters, PRS management, Sales Managers, claims, and all Chubb stakeholders.
- Represent the Chubb brand positively within the organization and the marketplace.
- Share knowledge with colleagues and mentor new hires through both formal and informal channels.
- Develop effective partnerships with CSRs, account managers, producers, and PL Managers through exceptional customer service and a solutions-oriented underwriting approach.
- Engage in annual broker business planning and adhere to all service level standards for referred transactions.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the Canadian personal insurance landscape, including competitor offerings.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, along with a minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience in a Personal Lines capacity. Candidates should possess:
- An analytical mindset and project management capabilities.
- Strong technical underwriting skills, particularly in personal lines contracts.
- A proven track record of results and a customer service orientation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to cultivate healthy, long-term relationships with various stakeholders.
