Position Overview

The Disability Benefits Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing and supporting disability and leave programs across North America. This position is pivotal in ensuring effective communication and collaboration among employees, HR representatives, management, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of disability leaves and other leave types, ensuring adherence to relevant policies and regulations.
  • Act as the primary resource for employees and management regarding inquiries related to leave and disability, providing clear and accurate guidance.
  • Evaluate leave requests thoroughly, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Work closely with employees and external providers to facilitate the necessary documentation and support for leave transitions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on disability issues, including short-term and long-term disability programs.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to enhance the management of leave and disability processes.
  • Maintain precise and confidential records concerning leave and disability cases, ensuring data integrity.
  • Stay informed about changes in federal and state regulations related to leave and disability, updating policies as necessary.
  • Provide training and support to HR personnel and management on best practices for leave and disability management.
  • Analyze and report on leave program metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the development of wellness initiatives and employee support programs to promote a healthy work-life balance.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in managing leave and disability programs, preferably within a corporate environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of leave laws and regulations, including FMLA and workers' compensation.
  • Strong grasp of disability management processes and accommodations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • A collaborative approach, focused on delivering exceptional service to employees and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in HR information systems and leave management software.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry best practices.
