Disability Benefits Coordinator

The Disability Benefits Coordinator plays a crucial role in the management and support of disability and leave programs across North America. This position is integral to ensuring that employees receive the necessary assistance and guidance regarding their leave options.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the administration of all leave types, including disability leaves and other company-specific policies.
- Act as the primary resource for employees and management regarding inquiries related to leave and disability.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of leave requests to ensure adherence to relevant laws and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to gather required documentation and facilitate smooth transitions for employees returning to work.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on disability issues, including both short-term and long-term disability.
- Partner with external vendors to enhance the effectiveness of leave and disability management.
- Maintain meticulous records and reports concerning leave and disability cases, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
- Stay informed about current laws and regulations regarding leaves and disabilities, updating policies as necessary.
- Provide training and support to HR colleagues and management on best practices for leave and disability management.
- Analyze leave program data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
- Contribute to the development of wellness initiatives and employee assistance programs to promote a healthy work-life balance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience in managing leave and disability programs, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of relevant leave laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- A collaborative approach with a focus on delivering exceptional service.
- Proficiency in HR information systems and leave management software.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends.
