KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Canadian pension and group benefits programs for hourly union, non-union, and salaried staff.
  • Act as a liaison with management, employees, and vendors regarding health and disability claims.
  • Foster strong working relationships with third-party administrators, insurance providers, and other service partners.
  • Maintain benefits and pension data within the company's Human Capital Management (HCM) systems.
  • Keep accurate records and files related to benefits and pensions, including contracts, plan documents, and summaries.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Team and HR Administrators on various pension, benefits, and disability management issues.
  • Communicate with employees as needed, including responding to inquiries and distributing materials.
  • Support the Total Rewards team and the broader Human Resources department on various matters.
  • Participate in the Pension Audit & Benefits audit process, including quarterly audits between our internal HCM system and third-party vendors.
  • Work closely with the HCM team to ensure the HR System is configured correctly for Pension & Benefits.
  • Assist with health and retirement projects and initiatives as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, finance, or a related field.
  • Certification as an Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), or progress towards such designation is considered advantageous.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in benefits and retirement administration or consulting.
  • Familiarity with Canadian government regulations related to life and health benefit plans.
  • Knowledge of Canadian pension legislation is also beneficial.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong customer service abilities.
  • Proficiency in standard office software applications (Excel, Word).
  • Experience with Oracle HCM Cloud Fusion is a plus.
  • Highly organized, capable of multitasking, with excellent attention to detail and planning skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills are essential.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
