**Administrative Assistant to the Registrar and Deputy Registrar**

The Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC) is Alberta’s automotive industry regulator. AMVIC is a public agency accountable to the Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction and the Government of Alberta. AMVIC protects consumers and industry from unfair practices in the automotive business industry. Consumer protection and a fair marketplace are achieved through AMVIC-managed mandatory licensing for automotive businesses and salesperson registrations as required by the _Consumer Protection Act_. AMVIC works to uphold industry standards through education of licensees and consumers.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide full cycle administrative support. Set up and prepare for administrative reviews not limited to correspondence, coordination of appointments and scheduling travel arrangements.
- Act as a resource with strong working knowledge of _Consumer Protection Act_ (CPA), Automotive Business Regulation (ABR) and _Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection Act_ (FOIP).
- Advanced knowledge in working with various legislation in a quasi-judicial environment (natural justice).
- Create and manage case files in AMVIC’s electronic database system.
- Conduct research and report on findings as requested. Prepare letters, reports, and appeal related documentation.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all AMVIC employees, clients, consultants, suppliers, and related third party agencies.
- Act as a liaison between other departments and the Registrar/Deputy Registrar
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and technical skills**:

- Successful completion of post-secondary Business Administration certificate or diploma.
- At least five years of legal experience; in the areas of legal, government, justice or similar regulatory field.
- Experience with administrative, legislative, regulatory and appeal related matters would be an asset.
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage your time. Strong organizational and time management. Ability to prioritize and organize multiple and varied duties with mínimal direction. Independent and self-motivated to manage workload and timelines.
- Advanced Microsoft Suite computer skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Proficiency of Microsoft Office software products. Ability to learn new computer software program.
- Ability to receive instructions verbally and act upon them without written follow-up. Ability to act independently within defined policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Detail oriented with high standard of attention to detail. Ability to perform duties with deliberate speed and accuracy will mínimal supervision. An emphasis on spelling and grammar as high level documents will be prepared and reviewed.
- Proven conflict resolution strategies - ability to deal with confrontational and conflicting situations to ensure resolution. Strong inter-personal and organizational skills
- Maintain confidentiality; high level of discretion due to the confidential nature of information being handled.
