Assistant Registrar, Registration and Registration

To support our commitment to Albertans, physicians and each other, CPSA is looking for an **Assistant Registrar, Registration and Registration Assessments** to join our Senior Leadership team.
Reporting to the Deputy Registrar, the **Assistant Registrar, Registration and Registration Assessments** has overall responsibility for CPSA's Registration department, along with supporting CPSA's overall mandate to protect Albertans as directed legislatively under Part 2 of the _Health Professions Act _(HPA). This strategic role is responsible and accountable for ensuring the department's work is aligned with CPSA's Strategic Plan as well as being an essential part of CPSA's Leadership team that supports the organization's values.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- ** Overall responsibility for the Registration department including development and implementation of programs within department**:
- Alignment of CPSA registration policies with the Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada (FMRAC) model standards for registration.
- Responsible and accountable for oversight of all the registration processes.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of the Practice Permits for all physicians as required by legislation and regulations.
- Authorize the issuance of Certificates of Professional Conduct as requested.
- Innovate and lead strategic direction for Registration program, and executive leadership through providing supportive direction and vision.
- Represent CPSA at the provincial and national levels to advance the objective of the Strategic Plan related to the Registration program.

General Responsibilities**:
- Manage the overall operations of the department, while building and encouraging leadership competencies in team members.
- As a member of CPSA's senior executive team, ensure alignment and integration of the Registration and Assessment portfolios with CPSA's mission, vision, and values.
- Provide advice and guidance to Albertans and the medical profession, and expertise and assistance to team members as required.
- Act as liaison with external stakeholders and organizations as required.
- Undertake other duties assigned by the Deputy Registrar.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education**:
- Medical degree
- CCFP or equivalent, and/or Royal College Fellowship eligible for licensure in Alberta.
**Experience**:
- Minimum 10 years in clinical medical practice.
- Broad medical knowledge and experience in a variety of health care settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in leadership with a focus on strategic execution.
- Assessment and teaching experience with physician learners and/or practicing physicians.
- Training and/or experience in quality improvement, privileging of health care professionals and/or executive coaching would be an asset.
**Skills**:
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong interest in leadership development and team building.
- Strong interest in the development of enhanced /outcome-based physician assessment tools.
**SALARY**
The salary for this position is $306,170 and includes a comprehensive benefit package and pension plan.
