About the Role

The Physiotherapy Resident is an integral part of the Rehabilitation Services team, reporting directly to the Rehabilitation Services Manager. This role involves the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients experiencing various physical challenges within a tertiary care environment, all conducted under the guidance of a licensed Physiotherapist. The assessment process includes gathering comprehensive medical histories and executing specific, standardized evaluation techniques to establish a physical diagnosis.

Holistic treatment plans are crafted utilizing a combination of exercises, educational strategies, and various therapeutic modalities such as manual therapy, mechanical interventions, electrical stimulation, and hydrotherapy. These approaches aim to support patients in achieving and maintaining optimal functional levels.

As a key member of the clinical team, the Physiotherapy Resident collaborates effectively with other healthcare professionals, contributing to the development of team objectives and participating in the evaluation of team performance. This role also includes educating patients, families, and the community about health promotion, physiotherapy interventions, and overall patient management.


Qualifications

We invite candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or entry-level Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution
  • Current membership with the provincial licensing body for Physiotherapists
  • Proficiency in computer applications including statistical input and word processing
  • Current certification in Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (BCLS)
  • Completion of WHMIS training and certification
  • Additional specialized training in areas such as cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, and manual therapy is highly regarded
  • Competency in additional languages is an asset, with French being preferred

Work Schedule

  • This is a full-time position, requiring 75 hours of work bi-weekly
  • The assignment is expected to last approximately 12 months

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $33.97. Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, along with a defined benefit pension plan.
