As a well-established nursing home, Oakwood Terrace is operated by the Dartmouth Senior Care Society, which emphasizes placing the needs of our residents at the forefront of our decisions while ensuring the well-being of our staff. We are excited about our future plans to expand our services with a new facility designed for 144 residents.

Position Overview:

The Physiotherapist plays a crucial role in assessing, treating, educating, and managing residents within the realm of Physiotherapy. This position involves understanding, interpreting, and applying all relevant organizational policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to Physiotherapy Services. Collaboration with the Occupational Therapist and Rehabilitation Assistant is essential to provide comprehensive Rehabilitation Services at Oakwood Terrace.

The Physiotherapist will also contribute significantly to the leadership team, participating in meetings that enhance resident healthcare and promote a safe working environment for staff.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

· Graduate from an accredited Physiotherapy program

· Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Nova Scotia

· Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association

· General understanding of various healthcare disciplines and their respective priorities

· Knowledge of departmental and patient care management principles

· Awareness of the psychological, social, cultural, spiritual, and economic aspects of elderly care

· Physical capability to perform duties with average to heavy demands

· Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, time management, judgment, and decision-making skills

· Previous experience working with the elderly in a Homes for Special Care setting is advantageous.
