As a well-established nursing home, Oakwood Terrace is managed by Dartmouth Senior Care Society, which prioritizes the needs of our residents while also supporting our dedicated workforce. With backing from the Government of Nova Scotia, we are excited to expand our services with a new facility for 144 residents in the near future.

Position Overview:

The Physiotherapist will be instrumental in the assessment, treatment, education, and management of residents within the realm of Physiotherapy. This role involves understanding, interpreting, and applying all relevant organizational policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to Physiotherapy Services. Collaboration with the Occupational Therapist and Rehabilitation Assistant is essential to deliver integrated Rehabilitation Services at Oakwood Terrace.

As a vital member of the leadership team, the Physiotherapist will actively participate in meetings aimed at enhancing resident healthcare and fostering a safe work environment for staff.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physiotherapy program
  • Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Nova Scotia
  • Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • General understanding of various healthcare disciplines and their priorities
  • Knowledge of departmental and patient care management principles
  • Awareness of the psychological, social, cultural, spiritual, and economic factors affecting elderly care
  • Physical capability to perform duties that may involve moderate to heavy demands
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, time management, judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Experience working with the elderly in specialized care settings is advantageous
