Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Respiratory Outpatient Department plays a crucial role within Alberta Health Services (AHS). This position is designed to ensure that patients and their families have timely access to essential information, support, and services related to respiratory care. The RN is responsible for providing comprehensive pre and post-procedure information to patients, ensuring a seamless experience.

The RN collaborates with respiratory care teams and oversees the effective management of patients throughout the bronchoscopy process, including pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure phases. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality patient care, offering expertise, support, and guidance in clinical practice activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver a broad spectrum of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
  2. Utilize nursing processes, including critical thinking and problem-solving, to address patient needs effectively.
  3. Advocate for patients and their families, providing education and counseling as necessary.
  4. Lead initiatives that promote an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, emphasizing health promotion and maintenance.
  5. Ensure the provision of safe, quality, and patient-centered care that aligns with the mission and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program is essential. Candidates must be actively registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification is also required. For those who have not practiced as a Registered Nurse in the past five years, completion of specific courses is mandatory.
