About the Role:

Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Palliative Care team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan, utilizing advanced practice nursing competencies to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct mentoring to improve palliative care expertise within the inter-disciplinary healthcare team.
  • Lead advancement of palliative interdisciplinary clinical practice, including developing, implementing, and evaluating education programs, teaching, leading or participating in working groups, and participating in research projects related to Palliative Care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to improve frontline nursing practice and promote advanced practice nursing within the palliative care nursing consultation team.
  • Provide timely and effective clinical consultative care to the palliative care patient population in a variety of settings, including community, rural, continuing care, and acute care.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree.
  • Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CNA Certification in CHPCN(C) Certified in Hospice Palliative Care Nursing (C)anada.
  • Case Management Education.
  • Meditech and Connect Care training.
  • Experience in program planning, education of adults, interdisciplinary practice, and research activities.
