Unit 22 is a specialized acute care environment focusing on Cardiology and Telemetry, where skilled professionals manage a diverse population of complex and unstable patients. The ideal Registered Nurse for this unit possesses a profound interest in cardiac nursing and excels in collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to deliver family-centered care. The RN is responsible for providing care across the lifespan, addressing various health stages and complexities of illness.
Role Overview:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will deliver a comprehensive range of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Your responsibilities will include utilizing nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, while also teaching, counseling, and advocating for patients and their families. You will assume a leadership role in promoting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. Your focus will be on providing safe, high-quality, patient-centered care that aligns with the vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of specific free courses is required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to perform and document physical assessments.
- Proven capability to administer medications in an acute care setting.
- Excellent critical thinking skills related to clinical judgment and problem-solving.
- Recent experience in an acute care environment at full scope of practice is essential.
- Ability to function effectively as part of a team and to accept direction as needed.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
- This role is suitable for candidates with certification in a relevant specialty area, as well as those with Charge Nurse experience and past leadership training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- All Acute Care, Continuing Care, Mental Health, and Public Health LPNs, RNs, and RPNs are encouraged to detail their experience and qualifications. To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered, please attach a resume with your application.
