Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Business Development Executive to take charge of sponsorship and exhibition space sales for multiple prestigious events throughout North America. These conferences and exhibitions are recognized for their credibility and support from leading private sector and government entities.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with existing and prospective sponsors and exhibitors to achieve and surpass sales revenue goals.
  • Conducting outreach to potential clients and effectively communicating the advantages of sponsorship or exhibition opportunities.
  • Building and nurturing strong relationships with key sponsors and exhibitors.
  • Identifying potential sponsors and securing financial support from commercial organizations.
  • Maintaining regular communication with key sponsorship contacts to understand their promotional strategies.
  • Managing the floor plan and allocation of exhibition booth spaces.
  • Staying informed about market trends and identifying new growth opportunities for sales.
  • Ensuring all sales-related administrative tasks are completed to a high standard, including correspondence and database management.
  • Representing the company at industry events as necessary.
  • Assisting clients with their onsite needs during the event setup, operational period, and breakdown.
  • Preparing and presenting sales plans and reports as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A proven track record of sales achievements.
  • The ability to establish rapport with both potential and existing clients.
  • Experience in independently sourcing and closing new business opportunities.
  • Background in selling sponsorships and exhibition spaces.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Resourcefulness and lateral thinking skills.
  • The capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • The ability to maintain composure under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the port, transportation, maritime, or security sectors is advantageous, although candidates with relevant transferable skills will also be considered. Proficiency in French or Spanish is a plus.

Personal Attributes

The successful candidate will be proactive in exploring market opportunities and comfortable engaging with key decision-makers in international firms. It is essential to possess the confidence and capability to make a high volume of quality sales calls daily, engage prospects effectively, and create compelling proposals. The candidate should be adept at listening to prospects and employing a consultative sales approach, ensuring thorough preparation for each interaction.
