This position is based out of Young Tower in Halifax, NS, and is a Hybrid work environment with 3 days per week in office.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring high quality and timely VAS Operations deliverables, e.g., high quality and availability of VAS nodes and services (performance KPIs); high quality and reliable operations and support; life cycle management, performing SW upgrades and updates; loading, testing and implementation of corrections (including security patches) and new features in the network; preventive maintenance; operational and customer issues support, etc.
  • Development and validation of, and adherence to Methods of Procedures and Change Application Procedures to ensure high quality of network implementations.
  • Perform periodic network audits and inconsistency cleanups to maintain the health of the network as it evolves.
  • Participate in regular security/vulnerability scans and respective corrective and preventive actions
  • Follow the relevant processes and propose/implement possible improvements to the processes and procedures.
  • Stay on top of relevant VAS, LTE, IMS/VoLTE and 5G technology, as well as upcoming industry and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering Computer Science, or similar.
  • A couple years' of experience focusing on operational tasks related to communications protocols, databases, IT security, etc.
  • An understanding of Linux systems, with some development, coding and scripting abilities is an asset; including Shell, Python, etc.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP related translations; understanding of SIP, Diameter and HTTPs protocols is an advantage.
  • An understanding of Mobile Core/IMS and/or VAS network architecture would be preferred.
  • An understanding of computer security, privacy requirements, and possible risks/exposure. Experience and participation in related activities, vulnerability scans, security fixes and patches would be an asset.
  • Teamwork, customer focus, accountability, cooperation, respect, and innovation are demonstrated on daily basis.
  • Ability to work under pressure while faced multiple deadlines and to be on-call to provide 24/7 technical support.
  • Good communication (spoken and written) and negotiation skills.
