About the Role
In this position, reporting directly to the Chief Power Engineer, the 2nd Class Power Engineer will be responsible for the safe operation and upkeep of a Central Heating Plant (CHP) and its auxiliary systems. This role operates on a 24-hour rotating shift schedule, ensuring the effective monitoring of steam boilers, distribution networks, central refrigeration units, and ventilation systems via the building's energy management system. The engineer will also handle urgent building-related inquiries during off-hours, including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
We invite applications from candidates who possess the following:
- Interprovincial Second Class Power Engineer License.
- A minimum of two years' experience in a high-pressure steam plant and related equipment.
- A valid Driver's License and access to a dependable vehicle.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Capability to work autonomously.
- Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous, with French being preferred.
Work Schedule
This is a permanent, full-time role requiring 90 hours of work bi-weekly.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage is $35.28. Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, alongside a defined benefit pension plan. Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance under a defined Return of Service contract. This position may also qualify for a Market Adjustment of approximately $192.31 biweekly.
