2nd Class Power Engineer - Maintenance and Operations

About the Role

As a 2nd Class Power Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe operation and upkeep of a Central Heating Plant (CHP) and its auxiliary systems at a healthcare facility. This role requires you to work on a rotating shift basis, ensuring that all equipment is functioning according to established codes and regulations. You will monitor steam boilers, refrigeration plants, and ventilation systems, utilizing the building energy management system to maintain optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain plant equipment under the supervision of the Chief Power Engineer.
  • Respond to urgent building-related issues during off-hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all operations.

Qualifications

  • Interprovincial Second Class Power Engineer License.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a high-pressure steam plant environment.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle for potential travel to other sites.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset, with a preference for French.

Work Schedule

  • This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 90 hours of work bi-weekly.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $35.28. Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, along with a defined benefit pension plan. Additional incentives such as a signing bonus and relocation assistance may also be available, subject to a Return of Service contract.
