Position Overview

In this role, you will report directly to the Chief Power Engineer at the Victoria General Hospital. As a 2nd Class Power Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of a Central Heating Plant (CHP) along with its auxiliary systems. Your duties will include monitoring steam boilers, distribution networks, central refrigeration units, and ventilation systems via the building energy management system. Additionally, you will handle urgent building-related inquiries during off-hours, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

We invite candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • Interprovincial Second Class Power Engineer License.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a high-pressure steam plant and its associated equipment.
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a dependable vehicle.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with French being preferred.

Work Schedule

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 90 hours of work bi-weekly.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $35.28. Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, along with a defined benefit pension plan. There may also be opportunities for a signing bonus and relocation assistance under a defined Return of Service contract. This position is currently eligible for a Market Adjustment of approximately $192.31 biweekly.
