About the Role

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. seeks an experienced professional to support the delivery of standardized U-First health-care provider training across the province.

This role focuses on increasing the scope and reach of the U-First program by leading the train-the-trainer component of the initiative.

Responsibilities include developing, coordinating, and facilitating required training and ongoing opportunities for professional development, coaching, and support to enhance the knowledge and skills of the organization's health-care education facilitators.

Facilitating external train-the-trainer workshops to enhance health-care providers' capacity to deliver U-First training within their organization is also a key aspect of this position.

The successful candidate will have experience working within the health or social care sector with people living with dementia and/or their caregivers, as well as demonstrated knowledge of adult education best practices.

About You

We are looking for an individual who has a deep understanding of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, combined with a commitment to fostering person-centred care.

A background in healthcare, social work, gerontology, or a related field, with skills in adult education, group facilitation, and coaching professionals to achieve their goals, is essential.

The ideal candidate will be able to build trusting relationships with community partners and health-care providers, while also working independently to achieve results.

Key Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience working within the health or social care sector with people living with dementia and/or their caregivers;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias;
  • Demonstrated value for personhood, applying person-centred approaches and active listening;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of seniors' services, long-term care, and health care in B.C. is considered an asset;
  • Ability to maintain confidential client files, including recording training attendance and stakeholder engagement using Raiser's Edge software;
  • Proficient with technology, including LCD projectors, Zoom, and the Microsoft Office suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel).
