We are seeking a Community Development Specialist to join our team at the Alzheimer Society of B.C. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs to support individuals affected by dementia and their caregivers.

About the Position

The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of experience designing and developing online learning and training programs, preferably in a non-profit or health-oriented environment. You will work closely with our team to develop innovative microlearning opportunities, coordinate phone and email support to program trainees, and collaborate with Master Trainers to align program deliverables with training goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the health-care provider community of practice to ensure continuous learning and peer support programs for workers in long-term care.
  • Develop innovative microlearning opportunities to enhance trainee engagement and continued learning, such as short videos, online posts, newsletter articles or emailed content.
  • Develop ongoing opportunities for trainee peer support and connection, such as online peer connection meetings, moderated discussion boards and in-person networking events.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education or relevant degree in public health, education, gerontology, social work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience designing and developing online learning and training programs, preferably in a non-profit or health-oriented environment.
  • Experience working with people living with dementia or older adults in a non-profit environment is preferred.
