Mental Health Support Specialist

Halton Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Assistant to join our team. This role requires a post-secondary diploma in a related field and experience working with patients who may have escalated or agitated behaviors and/or fluctuating mental status.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide patient observation/supervision based on nurse/physician assessment.
- Alert the assigned nurse about changes in patients presentation.
- Document observations required by physician orders.
- Carry out routine patient checks ensuring patients are safe and not showing signs of escalation or symptoms of distress.
- Accompany patients for transfers and appointments.
- Post-secondary diploma in a related field required.
- Experience working with patients who may have escalated or agitated behaviors and/or fluctuating mental status.
- Observation skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of mental health issues and challenges faced by mental health patients.
- $38-$42 per hour
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviour Course (Crisis Prevention Institute-CPI) within 6 months.
