Job Overview

This role involves working closely with patients, families, and healthcare staff to provide high-quality support and care. As a Mental Health Care Professional, you will be responsible for observing patients, documenting their progress, and assisting with daily activities. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient observation and supervision in accordance with nurse and physician assessments.
  • Document observations as required by physician orders.
  • Carry out routine patient checks to ensure safety and well-being.
  • Accompany patients during transfers and appointments within and outside the hospital.
  • Support patients and clinical staff in ward activities and routines.
  • Provide recreational activities to promote engagement and reduce agitation.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Supervise patients during dining room service.
Qualifications and Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess a post-secondary diploma in a related field and have experience in mental health or healthcare. You should also demonstrate excellent observation skills, knowledge of mental health issues, and experience working with patients with escalated behaviors. Additionally, you should be able to physically intervene and perform patient restraints as per hospital policy.
