Business Development Manager for Naval Sector

About This Role

This position is focused on achieving significant order intake for the Naval Training and Mission & Operational Support (M&OS) account, with a target magnitude of $50M+ annually.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, developing and maintaining relationships with existing clients and partners.
  • Develop and lead capture teams to create and win opportunities within the Canadian defence & security market, with a focus on the Naval domain.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to develop innovative solutions and deliver strategic sales presentations.
  • Work with the global offsets organization to develop effective offset strategies.
  • Lead complex pursuit and capture teams, developing win themes and strategy as a team.
  • Responsible for development and leadership of capture strategy.
  • Accountable for budget/expenses associated with approved pursuits.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to CAE colleagues, sharing visibility into key opportunities.
  • Assist and lead bid and proposal teams to prepare and submit winning proposals for Naval and other assigned opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive market offerings and new technologies.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree or greater in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, or practical experience in a related technical field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Naval operations and/or maritime technology, either through Naval service or related industry experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in the Canadian Defence and Security industry, with 6+ years in Canadian Defence procurement.
  • Excellent business acumen and strategic mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key OEMs and business partners.
  • Advanced sales, market research, and business skills and knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven networking skills and an established network of contacts within the Canadian defence industry.
  • Cross-functional, international, and agile team leadership skills.
  • Ability to hold a NATO SECRET Security Clearance & Controlled Goods Clearance.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada as a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or with a valid Work Permit.
  • Ability to travel within Canada (25-40%) and overseas (10%) as required.
  • Bilingualism in English and French.
