Business Development Manager

Prepare and implement Canadian market strategies and long-range business development plans to drive growth and expansion within the Defence and Security sector.
Identify, qualify and pursue large and small business opportunities, leveraging expertise in Supply Chain, Logistics and Engineering Support Services to deliver value to clients.
Maintain awareness of economic and political trends, staying informed about competitive market offerings and new technologies to inform business strategy and drive innovation.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to monitor current and future opportunities, tracking market trends and providing advice and support as needed.
Lead project proposal pursuits by understanding client needs and promoting organizational capacity advantages in the development of proposals and presentations.
Oversee the development of responses to RFIs, RFPs and other requests for information related to growth and business development.
- Lead business development and capture planning activities to achieve wins and generate revenue.
- Track win/loss of proposals, analyze lost sales and make recommendations to improve win potential.
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Canadian Defence and Security industry.
Solid understanding of new business identification, qualification, capture, bid and proposal processes.
Understanding of capture plan preparation and execution of opportunity gate reviews.
Familiarity with the recent Defence Procurement Strategy.
Ability to hold a SECRET Security Clearance and Controlled Goods Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics or related technical field; MBA preferred.
Expertise in DND Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Innovation Science and Economic Development (ISED) customer intimacy, including overall knowledge of organizational structure, buying methods, existing and emerging deals and the competitive landscape.
Good understanding of the DND marketplace, including customer needs, preferences, policies and operational concepts.
Documented 'win list' including multiple large awards in the Defence or Government markets within the last 5 years.
Experience with sales funnel and discretionary resources financial management.
Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
