Job Summary

Dentons Canada is seeking a Business Development Manager to join its vibrant and creative team. You will work closely with the Senior Manager, Profile & Client Development, and other stakeholders to drive business growth through strategic planning and execution.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marketing and business development, with experience working in a professional services environment. A JD/LL.Ms degree is encouraged, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business plans to drive revenue growth and expand client relationships
  • Support the office in various profile-raising activities, including events and sponsorships
  • Contribute to the development of practice and sector project plans
  • Prepare agendas and materials for practice and sector group meetings
  • Facilitate business planning and execution for assigned groups
  • Develop creative content for social media and leverage digital channels to promote the firm's brand
  • Participate in conversations around directory submissions and prepare draft submissions for review
  • Prepare client reports and support cross-selling initiatives
  • Work with the Events team to deliver successful events
  • Attend Firm and third-party organized events and meetings
  • Draft information packages and proposal materials for assigned groups
  • Demonstrate a willingness to understand key clients and experiences of assigned practice and sector groups
  • Support the enhancement of client lists for assigned practice and sector groups
  • Provide clear direction when liaising with tangential marketing teams
  • Preparation/collection of business intelligence for practice and sector project plans
  • Assist with creating and monitoring annual BD budgets
  • Update marketing collateral related to the practice, industry, or initiative
  • Ability to work after hours, including attending events and responding to email and telephone communication

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing and/or business development, preferably in a professional services environment
  • Solid business acumen and strong project management skills
  • Data-savvy and proficient at navigating data managing tools such as Power BI
  • Knowledge of venture tech/startup sector and local Ottawa technology business environment is an asset
  • Experience with leveraging social media and other digital channels
  • Proven success providing end-to-end coordination, organization, and management of business development initiatives
  • Must be proficient working with the entire Microsoft Office Suite, including sophisticated knowledge of PowerPoint
