Role Overview

As the Head of Fund Accounting, you will report directly to the Executive Director of Client Operations within Fund Administration. Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Delivering comprehensive fund accounting and administration services to private equity clients, which includes the preparation and review of Net Asset Values (NAV), custody services, investor record management, and reporting.
  • Leading a team of Fund Accountants, overseeing service delivery and providing training on all facets of the NAV process.
  • Collaborating with banks, auditors, brokers, and custodians to ensure seamless service execution and timely NAV completion.
  • Authorizing fee schedules, including the calculation of management and carried interest, ensuring compliance with relevant fund documentation.
  • Reviewing and approving investor allocations for each NAV cycle, waterfall calculations, custody trading documents, and managing Capital Calls and distribution wires as per client instructions.
  • Partnering with the internal AML team and administrators to meet all AML compliance requirements.
  • Addressing all client inquiries promptly and effectively.
  • Reviewing and signing off on schedules, reports, and files to ensure adherence to organizational controls.
  • Allocating resources to guarantee that all tasks are completed and service level agreements are upheld.
  • Approving fund expense payments within the appropriate banking systems, ensuring that controls are maintained.
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of audited financial statements and annual audits.
  • Reviewing reports for regulatory authorities.
  • Establishing fund or client-specific procedures to cover all service aspects; ensuring cross-training and coverage for all client services.
  • Contributing to the growth of the local office.
  • Generating ideas for enhancing the NAV process, technological advancements, and client reporting.
  • Participating in various system initiatives and projects.
Required Qualifications
  • A post-secondary education or University Degree with a focus on finance or accounting.
  • Proven experience in the fund administration sector, including staff management.
  • Familiarity with the fund administration business and the factors driving profitability and success.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential for this position.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the private equity fund administration landscape, including various fund structures, fee calculations, financial instruments, and fund offering documentation review.
  • Experience with fund accounting software such as Geneva, Investran, or Yardi, or a working knowledge of Bloomberg is advantageous.
  • Completion or interest in obtaining a professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA, ACCA, ICAEW, CFA, or equivalent) is a plus.
