Licensed Practical Nurse - CVH Surgical Suite

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Practical Nursing from an accredited nursing program is preferred.
  • Valid Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario is mandatory.
  • For graduates prior to 1995, a medication administration certificate from an accredited community college is required.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is essential.
  • Completion of a perioperative certification course or the associated curriculum components is necessary.

Additional Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience (within the last 3 years) as a Licensed Practical Nurse in an acute care environment.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records.
  • Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Standards of Practice set by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively engage with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Proven decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to take initiative and adapt to new or unforeseen circumstances.
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of relevant experience in the Operating Room.
  • Membership in the Registered Practical Nurses' Association of Ontario (RPNAO) or the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).
  • Certification with the CNA.
  • Recent completion of a physical assessment course.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
