Position Overview

Required Qualifications

Valid Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario. For those who graduated prior to 1995, a medication administration certificate from an accredited community college is necessary. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. At least one year of recent nursing experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in an acute care setting within the last three years. Enrollment in or completion of the IV Therapy Course.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a solid command of English to effectively convey information. A commitment to quality care and safety, with the ability to apply best practices and evidence-based approaches. Organizational skills that enable effective workload management in a fast-paced environment. Capacity to address and resolve conflicts in a productive and respectful manner. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Dedication to continuous learning and professional growth. Proficiency in computer systems, including experience with electronic medical records. Familiarity with relevant health legislation and standards of practice. Initiative and adaptability in response to new or unexpected situations. Adherence to confidentiality and privacy standards in accordance with health regulations. Physical capability to perform the essential duties of the role, as assessed by the Occupational Health and Safety Department. A reliable attendance record. Understanding and compliance with safety policies that promote an inclusive environment. Ability to effectively engage with empathy in all interactions. Alignment with the values of Mackenzie Health, emphasizing excellence, leadership, and empathy. Commitment to delivering an outstanding experience for both staff and clients in a challenging healthcare setting.

Additional Considerations

A Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited nursing program is preferred. Recent completion of a physical assessment course is advantageous. Membership in the Registered Practical Nurses' Association of Ontario (RPNAO) is a plus. Proficiency in a second language is beneficial. Previous experience in the Licensed Practical Nurse role is desirable.
