We are looking for a Culinary Supervisor to become a vital part of the Dining Services team at Dalhousie University. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef and the Residence Dining Manager, playing a key role in delivering culinary excellence through effective planning, production, and management of high-quality food services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the culinary team in executing daily food services that meet or exceed operational and financial goals, actively engaging with front-line staff as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to all Aramark operational standards and regulatory requirements by monitoring the performance of Cooks and Food Service Workers.
  • Analyze forecasts using the PRIMA menu management system.
  • Maintain compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the onboarding, training, and development of culinary staff.
  • Manage product ordering and assist with monthly inventory tasks.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of storage areas, including storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Standardize production processes to guarantee consistent quality and adherence to recipes.
  • Taste all food items prior to service to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Oversee the presentation and quality of food during service.
  • Utilize a tablet-based interface for our menu management system (ENABLE+) to support the culinary team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the culinary field is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership capacity is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of culinary practices and dietary requirements.
  • A culinary degree or Red Seal certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with clients and customers.
  • Experience in food and labor costing is beneficial.
  • Must possess a professional demeanor and the ability to lead effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 lbs.
