Position Overview:

The University of Toronto is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) within the S&E Student Residences. This position is integral to fostering a supportive and inclusive community for students residing in Chestnut Residence.

About the Organization:
Spaces & Experiences manages student housing for both undergraduate and graduate students. Our mission is to create an environment that promotes community engagement, diversity, and inclusion. We aim to enhance students' personal growth and academic success through meaningful interactions and programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee student life activities in alignment with university policies.
  • Assist in the selection, training, and supervision of Residence Dons.
  • Implement community development initiatives that support residents' academic and personal growth.
  • Advise students on university regulations and facilitate event organization.
  • Manage logistical aspects of programming and events.
  • Provide guidance on personal and academic matters, offering various options and outcomes.
  • Develop marketing and promotional content for residence activities.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for student staff and manage casual staff activities.
  • Support student staff in addressing complaints and concerns.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of experience.
  • At least two years of experience in a university residence environment.
  • Background in counseling, programming, and discipline within a residence community.
  • Proficient in word processing and familiar with PC environments.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in conflict resolution.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse team.
  • Interest in engaging with students from various backgrounds.
  • Creative in enhancing programs and staff development.

  • Familiarity with residence management systems is advantageous.
