Position Overview:

The University of Toronto is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to take on the role of Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) within the S&E Student Residences. This pivotal position is designed to enhance the living experience for students by fostering a supportive and inclusive community within the residence.

About the Role:
As the Residence Life Coordinator, you will report directly to the Associate Dean of Residence Life. You will play a crucial role in managing student life within the residence, ensuring that all activities align with the mission and policies of the University. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with various stakeholders to cultivate a vibrant community that prioritizes equity and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement innovative programs that promote community engagement and personal growth among residents.
  • Provide guidance to students regarding residence policies and facilitate events that enhance their university experience.
  • Oversee logistical planning for residence activities and ensure smooth execution.
  • Support students in navigating personal and academic challenges by offering a range of resources and options.
  • Create and manage marketing materials to promote residence events and initiatives.
  • Coordinate recruitment and training of residence staff, ensuring they are well-prepared to support their peers.
  • Supervise casual staff and provide mentorship to residence student leaders.
  • Address and resolve resident concerns through effective communication and conflict resolution strategies.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a university residence environment, ideally in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven experience in counseling, programming, and managing community dynamics.
  • Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team and adapt to changing situations.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all students.

  • Familiarity with residence management systems is advantageous.
