We are seeking a Manufacturing Lead for the Target Delivery System at our facility. Our Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions team is engaged in the design, production, development, testing, and servicing of tooling for on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery utilized globally. We pioneered the automated systems that enable continuous on-power refueling of CANDU reactors, addressing some of the most pressing challenges in the nuclear industry. Our equipment is integral to the operation of most nuclear power plants in Canada, contributing to carbon-free energy generation and the production of vital medical isotopes.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager of Target Delivery Systems, the Manufacturing Lead will oversee all manufacturing, procurement, and supply chain activities related to the Target Delivery System operations. This role is critical for ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of the TDS, which encompasses design, operational support, reliability improvements, and maintenance planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate all manufacturing activities to meet operational needs of the TDS.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team and other internal departments to facilitate procurement, fabrication, and testing necessary for TDS operations.
  • Develop and manage detailed plans and schedules, ensuring adherence to manufacturing cost and timeline commitments.
  • Engage in planning and forecasting activities alongside the TDS Manager and engineering team.
  • Provide insights into manufacturing processes to support system design and maintenance planning.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for supply activities.
  • Manage design modifications and maintain configuration control throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Address production issues through effective problem-solving and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Interface with key partners to ensure operational alignment.
  • Support regular maintenance activities, particularly during reactor outages, requiring meticulous planning.
  • Respond promptly to unplanned maintenance needs, providing 24/7 support as necessary.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, presenting technical data and manufacturing strategies.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of applicable nuclear codes and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, quality systems, and safety protocols.
  • Travel may be required as part of the role.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Software Engineering.
  • Experience in the design, fabrication, and operation of Target Delivery Systems.
  • 3 to 8 years of experience in design or manufacturing engineering within regulated industries.
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and financial metrics.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying information to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:

  • Current PEO license.
  • Experience in custom-engineered equipment manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software and FEA software.
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and ASME standards.
