Lead Engineer for Target Delivery Systems

Position Overview
At BWX Technologies, Inc., we are dedicated to achieving excellence in all our business endeavors. Our team, consisting of nearly 500 professionals across various locations, specializes in providing nuclear fuel and essential components for the CANDU nuclear power sector.
We are currently seeking an Engineering Lead for Target Delivery Systems to oversee our operations. The Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions division is engaged in the design, production, development, testing, and servicing of on-power refueling and reactor maintenance tools utilized globally. We pride ourselves on being the original architects of automated systems that facilitate continuous on-power refueling of CANDU reactors, addressing some of the most pressing challenges in the nuclear sector.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership to a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the maintenance and operations of the Target Delivery System (TDS).
- Ensure the safe and reliable operation of the TDS, including design, development, operational support, and maintenance planning.
- Act as the primary technical contact for customer interactions.
- Manage daily operational support, design modifications, and maintenance activities.
- Facilitate effective planning and scheduling with team members, ensuring adherence to cost and schedule commitments.
- Lead recruitment and onboarding efforts in collaboration with the TDS Manager.
- Address production issues through effective problem-solving and decision-making.
- Collaborate with key partners to support parts supply and maintenance execution.
- Provide immediate responses to unplanned maintenance issues, ensuring 24/7 support as needed.
- Participate in and lead meetings, including design reviews and technical presentations.
- Maintain compliance with nuclear codes and standards applicable to the Canadian nuclear environment.
- Ensure health and safety standards are upheld in all project activities.
- Travel may be required to support operations at various locations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Nuclear, or Software Engineering.
- Possession or pursuit of a valid PEO license.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in design or manufacturing engineering within regulated industries.
- 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a design or manufacturing environment.
- Strong project management skills, including budget and schedule management.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to diverse audiences.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with 3D CAD software, particularly Inventor or Solidworks.
- Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes.
- Understanding of risk-based modification processes and Engineering Change Control concepts.
