Environmental Compliance Specialist

Position Overview: We are seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role will support the Environmental Manager in ensuring that our policies and programs comply with all applicable environmental regulations. The successful candidate will engage in various hands-on activities, including:

  1. Data Reporting
  2. Field Sample Testing
  3. Site Evaluations
  4. Compliance Audits
  5. Enhancing Environmental Programs
  6. Collaborative Projects across Divisions

Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in maintaining compliance with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations.
  2. Collaborate with facilities across Western Canada to ensure adherence to environmental standards.
  3. Manage environmental certification programs, including Green Marine and ISO 14001.
  4. Conduct data collection and analysis related to soil, wastewater, and other environmental samples.
  5. Prepare detailed reports on air quality, wastewater treatment, and greenhouse gas emissions.
  6. Recommend improvements to operational procedures to enhance environmental performance.
  7. Review and update environmental policies and manuals.
  8. Coordinate new projects aimed at sustainability and pollution prevention.
  9. Travel to various plant locations for audits and compliance checks.
  10. Uphold the company’s Code of Conduct and foster a respectful workplace culture.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Environmental Technology or a related field is required.
  • Certifications in Power Engineering or Wastewater Treatment are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience is necessary.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and industrial equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental testing and regulatory reporting is a strong asset.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for site inspections.
  • Proficient in English with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to work in an industrial setting.
