Job Summary

Woodfibre Management Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Permitting Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our Regulatory Team, you will be responsible for leading the development of permit applications and managing permitting processes to support the construction, commissioning, and operational phases of our Woodfibre LNG Project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Permitting and Compliance
    • Develop and lead the preparation of regulatory permitting applications and amendments at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels, including marine permitting.
    • Collaborate with internal and external project team members to ensure compliance with environmental requirements and regulations.
  • Environmental Management
    • Support the development and implementation of discipline-specific environmental management plans for construction and operational phases.
    • Work collaboratively with the Government and External Relations Team to advance key permit strategy elements in support of external engagement and consultation.
  • Regulatory Relationships
    • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, Indigenous Groups, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
    • Participate in implementing the compliance management system to track and ensure compliance with project regulatory and environmental commitments and conditions.
Requirements
  • Education
    • University degree in an environmental discipline (e.g., environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, ecology, marine biology, or natural resource management).
  • Experience
    • At least 5 years' experience in a permitting role for large natural resource or infrastructure projects in Western Canada, or equivalent project experience.
    • Experience in marine permitting and/or permitting in British Columbia would be considered an asset.
  • Skills
    • Exceptional research, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience working with regulatory agencies at municipal, provincial, and federal levels.
    • Experience overseeing the work of environmental consultants.

  • Technical Skills
    • Expertise with a variety of computer programs (e.g., Office 365, MS Teams, MS Visio, MS Project Control, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, etc.).
  • Personal Qualities
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse team environment.
    • A valid driver's license and passport.
