Position Overview:

The Environmental Compliance Specialist will supervise subcontracted professionals involved in aquatic monitoring activities, ensuring adherence to environmental standards and management protocols. This role offers multiple opportunities across various projects in Western Canada, providing full-time, project-based employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental assessments and inspections of aquatic and terrestrial work sites to verify compliance with regulations and management strategies.
  • Assess the effectiveness of environmental protection measures implemented on-site.
  • Alert relevant stakeholders of any emerging issues and manage necessary corrective actions.
  • Ensure that construction personnel are informed about site-specific environmental protection strategies.
  • Document environmental conditions and observations meticulously.
  • Gather and analyze environmental data to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Report any instances of non-compliance to the environmental management team.
  • Stop construction activities that fail to meet environmental criteria.
  • Maintain and calibrate environmental monitoring instruments.
  • Keep comprehensive records of construction activities and environmental conditions.
  • Prepare regular reports on environmental monitoring findings.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to resolve environmental issues.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate with regulatory inspectors.
  • Complete daily reports and inspection documentation.
  • Perform additional relevant tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a recognized environmental professional designation (e.g., R.P. Bio., P. Ag., CPESC).
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Have experience in projects of comparable scale.
  • Demonstrate expertise in environmental monitoring within construction environments.
  • Exhibit strong skills in data management and technical reporting.
  • Ability to foster effective relationships within construction teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Capable of working in diverse outdoor conditions.
  • Proficient in relevant software for data management and communication.
  • A collaborative team player with excellent communication abilities.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

The compensation for this position ranges from $85,000 to $100,000 annually.
