Sustainability Compliance Specialist

We are currently seeking a dedicated Sustainability Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role will play a crucial part in assisting the Environmental Manager to ensure that our company’s practices align with all applicable environmental regulations. The position involves hands-on responsibilities, including data reporting, field sampling, site evaluations, audits, and the development of innovative strategies to enhance our environmental initiatives across all divisions.

Compensation: Annual base salary range $60,000 - $75,000.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with facilities across Western Canada to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Manage environmental certification programs, including Green Marine and ISO 14001.
  • Conduct data collection and analysis through soil, wastewater, and sample testing.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on air quality, wastewater management, and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Offer insights for operational improvements related to environmental standards.
  • Review and update environmental policies and procedural documents.
  • Coordinate new projects aimed at achieving environmental certifications and sustainability goals.
  • Travel to various plant locations for audits and compliance checks.
  • Adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct and uphold our core values.
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture through respectful interactions.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Degree in Environmental Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certifications in Power Engineering or Wastewater Treatment are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and industrial equipment is beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of field testing, sample collection, and regulatory reporting.
  • Willingness to travel for audits and compliance assessments.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability to work in dynamic and challenging environments.
