Position Overview

The Environmental Compliance Project Manager will oversee environmental initiatives within the Business Services Group. This role involves managing project execution, supporting auditing and regulatory compliance efforts, and conducting environmental due diligence for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) clients. The position may require up to 50% travel, both short-term and extended.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee multimedia environmental compliance projects in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations, including:
  • Permitting, sampling, and reporting activities.
  • Data management and analysis.
  • Conducting regulatory research.
  • Providing on-site compliance support at client facilities, which includes:
  • Classification, inventory, and management of hazardous materials.
  • Auditing compliance and management systems at both plant and corporate levels.
  • Designing and delivering environmental management training.
  • Participating in field activities and traveling to client sites.

Stay informed about Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) communications, including relevant standards, and provide effective consultation to clients.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline is preferred, along with 10-15 years of direct experience in environmental due diligence and compliance programs, including CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, SPCC, and environmental compliance auditing. A solid understanding of:

  • U.S. federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Health, safety, and transportation regulatory frameworks.
  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ASTM), including M&A transaction methodologies and environmental risk mitigation.
  • Experience in conducting environmental compliance audits and assessments to ensure adherence to applicable standards and policies.
  • Environmental sampling methodologies.
  • EHS management systems (e.g., ISO).

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of state-specific and international regulations.
  • Certification as a Professional Environmental Auditor.
  • Certification as a Hazardous Materials Manager.
  • Experience in ESG research and reporting.
  • Experience providing on-site support at industrial and manufacturing facilities.
