As part of the Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives Division, the Strategic Policy and Planning branch provides strategic and integrated policy and project services for the department of Justice on a wide range of programs and services under department legislation.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Intergovernmental Priorities and Policy Coordination, as the Intergovernmental Priorities Coordinator, you will provide strategic policy analysis, research, and coordination services to a wide range of stakeholders to support government priorities. In this role, you would support and interact with the Director, Executive Director, and cross-divisional and cross-ministry stakeholders.

Some responsibilities for this role include:

- Provides advice to the manager, director, executive director and divisions relating to intergovernmental priorities of the department and government.
- Coordinate and/or develop briefing materials for federal, provincial, territorial (FPT) Deputy Minister and Minister meetings to ensure that Alberta's priorities are appropriately reflected at FPT meetings and generally (e.g., correspondence).
- Promote, develop, and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with colleagues across the department and Government of Alberta to coordinate and support FPT meetings for the Minister, Deputy Minister, and Assistant Deputy Minister.
- Support the Manager and Director in building positive relationships with key FPT counterparts across Canada.
- Act in the capacity of the Manager, Intergovernmental Priorities and Policy Coordination as required.

Areas of knowledge that will support you in this role:

- Strong understanding of the Canadian federal system of government and thorough experience in analyzing intergovernmental issues and providing advice to decision makers.
- Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills are necessary to anticipate next steps on diverse and changing files, manage a wide range of responsibilities, and to synthesize and analyze input provided from different areas.
- Extensive research abilities, including the ability to consolidate large and diverse amounts of information.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills to communicate clear and compelling positions.
- Strong relationship-building and inter-personal skills to communicate and collaborate with senior officials in the ministry, government, and external stakeholders.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Requirements**:

- University graduation in a related field
- Minimum of 4 years related experience in policy, analysis and development.

Equivalencies will be considered based on one-year experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience
