**Ministry of Energy and Minerals**

The Ministry of Energy and Minerals is responsible for sustaining the interests of Albertans through the stewardship and responsible development of energy and mineral resource systems.

The Energy Policy division is responsible for energy, mines, and minerals policy development and program design as well as energy economics and analysis. It engages with a wide variety of resource development partners including various levels of government, industry, and a wide spectrum of Alberta communities and Indigenous Peoples.

This position will be required to fulfill a leadership function in delivering government priorities, and identifying opportunities and key issues affecting responsible resource development policies and partnerships. A key contributor of the Branch’s senior management team, this position provides strategic advice and recommendations to the Executive Director, Assistant Deputy Minister, Deputy Minister and Minister.

Some of your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Develop and foster strategic partnerships to support policy clarity and certainty in the regulatory system.
- Lead and contribute to integrated resource management policy files resulting from input and feedback from communities and intergovernmental partners.
- Provide leadership in the Resource Stewardship Policy Branch in supporting Alberta Energy and Minerals leaders in achieving the mandate and goals of the branch, division, and Ministry.

**Qualifications**:
Minimum University graduation in a Natural Resource Management, Law, Indigienous Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Economics or related supplemented by seven years progressively responsible related experience in leading issues management and policy development and implementation, including associated consultation and engagement.

**Equivalencies may be considered. Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of**:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.**The following will be considered assets**:

- Demonstrated Knowledge of decision-making processes of the Legislative Assembly, Cabinet, Treasury Board & Finance, and various Government committees.
- Demonstrated understanding of the role of Indigenous communities in resource development in Alberta.
- Experience working within the Integrated Resource Management System. Supervisory and leadership experience.**Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification.**
