Valard Construction LP is currently seeking a Project Accountant – Major Projects to join their team in Edmonton. Reporting to the Project Controller, this role plays a critical part in supporting major projects through accounting functions and operational cost control.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project setup.
  • Manage account activities.
  • Generate client invoices and track billing information.
  • Maintain project budgets.
  • Review and correct cost coding discrepancies.
  • Administer contracts with subcontractors.
  • Process accruals for project costs.
  • Record financial transactions through journal entries.
  • Reconcile project costs for accuracy.
  • Assist in processing change orders.
  • Organize information for audits.
  • Support Project Controller in reviewing project costs.
  • Contribute to project profitability analysis.
  • Undertake special projects and ad hoc analyses.
  • Provide oversight for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Manage closeout process for completed projects.
  • Ensure adherence to established systems and processes.
  • Organize cost accrual meetings.

Requirements

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Construction background preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel required.
  • Experience with JD Edwards or SAP preferred.
  • Cost control/Project Control background beneficial.
