Project Accountant

Overview

Reporting to the Finance Manager - West, the Project Accountant plays a crucial role in evaluating the financial activities and outcomes of business units or projects, while also overseeing Finance Team members as necessary.


Compensation
 $80,000 to $95,000 based on experience


Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of sales agreements and contracts
  • Ensure proper setup, maintenance, and closure of projects
  • Approving job setups, budgets, rate tables, change management documents, and project closures
  • Client cost reporting
  • Conducting month-end reviews, adjustments, accruals, and revenue recognition
  • Maintaining organized work files
  • Establishing and managing Job Rate Tables
  • Fulfilling ad hoc reporting needs as required
  • Assisting OC Manager, Project Manager, and Senior Project Accountant as needed
  • Analyzing Over/Under and SG&A accounts
  • Evaluating job margins
  • Preparing variance reports
  • Delivering cost analysis and reports to assess actual versus planned job progress for forecasting
  • Providing accounting support
  • Performing other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Post-secondary diploma or certification from an accredited college or technical/business school
  • CPA designation is preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in an accounting or finance role within an industrial contracting environment
  • Professional accounting experience, including job costing, financial analysis, and financial reporting
  • Previous experience in construction or manufacturing industries is advantageous
  • Experience in preparing financial statements is a plus
