What's the Gig?
You'll be our payroll maestro, handling day-to-day operations across multiple countries and divisions. This role includes managing timesheets, payroll control records, and diving into the analytics. Initially, you'll also rock the Canadian benefits processing until we bring in a Compensation and Benefits Manager. Once they’re on board, you'll focus on payroll, WCB reports, government filings, and ad hoc reporting.

Your Daily Jam Sessions:
- Bi-Weekly Payrolls: Keep the rhythm steady for our workforce in Canada and the US.
- New Hire Orientations: Welcome new talent and set them up for success.
- Timekeeping Master: Manage and verify all employee timekeeping info.
- Pay Calculations: Handle pay, leaves, overtime, bonuses, and commissions with finesse.
- Taxes & Deductions: Make sure Uncle Sam and his Canadian cousin get their due.
- Payments: Ensure timely payments via checks or direct deposits.
- Record Updates: Keep payroll records accurate and up-to-date.
- Unemployment & Severance: Calculate and manage these payments as needed.
- Payroll Queries: Be the answer to all payroll-related questions.
- Discrepancy Detective: Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Compliance Reports: Handle government filings, audits, and year-end reports (W2s, T4s, T5s).
- Process Development: Create efficient processes for the payroll function.
- Benefits Guru: Process employee benefits, manage reconciliations, and liaise with brokers.
- RRSP Management: Oversee our RRSP program from training to contribution processing.
- Special Projects: Tackle special analyses and reporting as assigned.
What You Bring to the Band:
-Payroll & Benefits Experience: Minimum five years in a similar role, with expertise in payroll and HRIS systems.
- Certification Bonus: CPA or GCPS certification is a plus.
- Multi-State/Province Maestro: Experience with multi-entity organizations.
- Payroll Knowledge: Deep understanding of payroll concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Accounting Savvy: Familiarity with general accounting principles.
- Detail-Oriented: Precise data collection, entry, and reporting skills.
- Legislation Guru: Solid knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient with Ceridian Dayforce and Paychex.
- Organizational Ace: Stellar organizational and time management skills.
- Problem-Solver: Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Customer Service Pro: Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent; a BA in accounting/business administration or HR is a bonus.
