**JOB PURPOSE**

This position is an integral part of the finance department and is responsible for processing payroll and benefits for all United Way British Columbia Staff (UWBC). This position will be responsible for the creation, review, and maintenance of all payrolls, time and attendance reports and monthly reconciliations.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Accountable to ensure all full cycle payroll processing and benefit administration are completed in accordance with established timelines and align with Collective Agreements and Federal and Provincial legislation.
- Use ADP Workforce Now to process semi monthly payroll for salaried, hourly, and temp employees for both exempt and unionized staff.
- Assist with the administration of time-off tracking systems.
- Process employee transactions such as vacations, leaves, pension deductions, terminations etc.
- Enroll, change, and terminate employee benefits.
- Assist with processing, reconciling and remitting payroll related payments such as pension, benefits etc.
- Ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality and security are applied to payroll / benefits information.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information and records pertaining to payroll and employee files.
- Prepare and process tax forms and various government remittances such as ROE, EHT and T4’s.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile annual payroll reports to government remittances and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare quarterly and annual WorkSafeBC reconciliation.
- Prepare various year end audit working papers in payroll and benefit accruals, data analysis and ad hoc reports.
- Act as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefits questions.
- Respond to oral and written inquiries from internal and external sources based on knowledge of standard departmental guidelines, procedures and policies.
- Facilitate and coordinate with ADP WFN to administer payroll and payroll codes within the software
- Assist with compiling source documentation for audit purposes
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance daily efficiencies

**General**
- Participates in project work with Finance, People & Culture, and other cross-functional teams.
- May participate in community engagement or fundraising activities.
- Performs other duties related to the qualifications and requirements of the job.

**QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS**

**Education**:

- Two years’ diploma or certificate in payroll

**Experience**:

- Two (2) years’ experience in payroll/benefits administration
- Experience with HRIS/human capital systems - ADP Workforce Now preferred.
- Experience with managing multiple union agreements simultaneously preferred

**Skills**:

- Accurate data entry skills, attention to detail and able to handle processing high volumes.
- Sound organizational skills. Proven ability to manage multiple activities and tasks simultaneously according to agreed upon schedules and deadlines.
- Must be able to meet assigned objectives by adapting and modifying the sequence of work methods and standards to meet changing conditions.
- Ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications.
- Good communication skills. Ability to compose simple, clear, concise correspondence
- Good interpersonal skills, demonstrate a customer/employee focus.
- Ability to adjust to changes in technology and processes
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with all staff

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- While most of this work may be performed at any location, Burnaby is the preferred location.
- Some hours outside of business hours to meet deadlines

This is a bargaining unit role with CUPE Local 1760. This position is a pay grade 29 which is $58,815.78 annually.
