About the RoleThis is a full-time position with an estimated salary of $90,000 - 140,000 annually, offering a competitive compensation package and opportunities for growth and professional development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team and overseeing all aspects of Canadian and US transaction tax compliance, including tax research, tax compliance, tax audits, process improvements, and other department projects as assigned.
Key Responsibilities- Oversight of accurate and timely preparation and filing of US and Canadian sales and excise tax returns
- Reviewing and approving tax compliance working papers and account reconciliations
- Engaging, mentoring, and training the team by building trust, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities
- Providing tax expertise and audit support to Core-Mark's US and Canadian warehouse personnel
- Identifying and mitigating tax risks
- Conducting tax research as required, and preparing technical memoranda where appropriate
- Maintaining strong working relationships with warehouse and corporate personnel
- Effectively communicating with internal staff, taxing authorities, and outside service providers on tax compliance matters
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Taxation with emphasis in taxation
- Minimum of 6+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or Corporate tax department handling tax high volume compliance
- Proven work experience leading a team as a Tax Manager or Tax Team Lead
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
