Tax Compliance Specialist

Core-Mark Canada is seeking a highly experienced Tax Compliance Specialist to join its Richmond, B.C. team.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary of approximately $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Job Description:The Tax Compliance Specialist will be responsible for managing US and Canadian transaction tax compliance, tax research, process improvements, and other projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Oversight of accurate and timely preparation and filing of US and Canadian sales and excise tax returns.
- Review and approval of tax compliance working papers and account reconciliations.
- Engagement, mentoring, and training of the team by building trust, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Providing tax expertise and audit support to Core-Mark's US and Canadian warehouse personnel.
- Identifying and mitigating tax risks.
- Conducting tax research as required, and preparing technical memoranda where appropriate.
- Maintaining strong working relationships with warehouse and corporate personnel.
- Effectively communicating with internal staff, taxing authorities, and outside service providers on tax compliance matters.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Business Degree/Diploma with an emphasis in Accounting or Tax.
- A minimum of 6+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or Corporate tax department handling tax high volume compliance.
- Proven work experience leading a team as a Tax Manager or Tax Team Lead.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
