Job Overview

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Contract & Compliance, and involves building, implementing, and operating T&T Canada & US privacy programs as a subject matter expert. Key responsibilities include providing guidance, performing risk assessments, and ensuring business groups' privacy maturity aligns with the enterprise program. The objective is to ensure all existing and future privacy-related policies, rules, and procedures comply with applicable jurisdictions' legislation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Execute the enterprise privacy program components (e.g., content development, privacy training, assessments, and reporting) tailored for retail and shared service business units.
  • Offer timely, ongoing, and accurate advice on privacy, CASL, US legislation, data ethics risks, and identifying appropriate mitigating controls.
  • Conduct risk assessments on new initiatives involving personal information collection, use, and disclosure, as well as suppliers/vendors entering the parent company environment.
  • Support developing and implementing privacy policies, standards, procedures, guidelines, and tools based on laws, industry standards, and business objectives.
  • Identify and manage day-to-day operations' privacy risks, including within new and existing projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, implement, train, and manage privacy awareness and compliance programs.
  • Track and report privacy risks, remediation activities, and key program activity status.
  • Manage privacy breach activities from intake to resolution.
  • Stay informed about Canadian and US privacy developments and monitor advancements in technology, ensuring organizational adaptation and compliance.

Requirements

  • A post-secondary college or university graduate with a certificate in CIPP.
  • 2-3 years of experience in privacy, compliance, or related functions.
  • Familiarity with Canadian and US privacy laws.
  • Working knowledge of risk management governance and practices, focusing on private sector privacy laws.
  • An understanding of Generally Accepted Privacy Principles and the ability to apply them to business operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong analytical capabilities, time management, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in French and/or Chinese is highly desirable.
  • Travel may be required.
