Benefits Program Administrator

This role serves as the Canadian benefits subject matter expert, overseeing the administration of NIQ's benefit programs that support approximately 500 employees. The Benefits Program Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day management of Canadian retirement plans and benefit plans, ensuring seamless operations and compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
  1. Retirement Plans: Manage DC pension/RRSP/TFSA plan administration, including reconciliations and payroll contribution submissions. Coordinate DB pension activities with service providers, ensuring accurate data and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Benefits Plans: Support annual benefit plan renewal, member enrolments, terminations, and coverage changes. Process premium deductions through payroll and manage monthly service provider invoices.
  3. Leave of Absence Management: Communicate leave of absence processes with employees and managers, tracking start and end dates, and updating leave status in Workday. Partner with service providers to ensure accurate data and excellent service to employees on leave.
  4. Communication and Support: Prepare communication materials, including periodic newsletters and benefit information on the company intranet site. Provide education and support to employees on company benefits and services.
  5. Other Initiatives: Support other benefit initiatives and programs as needed, such as the annual vacation purchase program.
Requirements and Qualifications
  1. Post-secondary degree
  2. 4+ years of experience in benefit administration, including retirement plan management, audits, and vendor partnerships
  3. Strong Excel and analytical skills, with a proven track record of data analysis and discrepancy identification
  4. Understanding of Employment Standards Administration, pension legislation, and related regulations
  5. Superior attention to detail and focus on accuracy
  6. Proven ability to take initiative, resolve problems, and drive deliverables
  7. Ability to prioritize work, adjust priorities as needed, and maintain confidentiality
  8. Ability to research independently and present findings to resolve questions and issues
